Why Homebirth?

Choosing homebirth with the guidance of a midwife means choosing a path that honors the age-old tradition of being “with woman”. It’s a decision that prioritizes personalized care, comfort, and a deeply supportive environment, ensuring that the birth of your child is a momentous and cherished experience. A midwifes role extends beyond medical assistance; it’s about offering continuous support, guidance, and care throughout the childbirth journey.

My approach to care is rooted in the belief that pregnancy and birth are natural life events. Pregnancy is not a disease, and birth is not a medical procedure. By combining the wisdom of traditional midwifery with modern medical evidence and technology, I support the natural physiological process of childbirth while ensuring the safety of both the birthing person and their baby.

What midwives do

Physiologic birth is not merely a preference for "natural" birth; it has been consistently shown to provide numerous benefits for both parent and baby. These benefits include reduced morbidity, effective respiratory transition for the baby, less genital tract trauma and suturing, quicker physical recovery, higher rates of breastfeeding, lower risk of chronic diseases associated with Cesarean births or delayed breastfeeding, improved parent-infant bonding, and decreased incidence of postpartum depression.

In my homebirth practice, I use the biodynamic model of midwifery care, which views birth as a physiological process significantly influenced by the birthing environment. Birth tends to progress more smoothly when the birthing person can move freely, eat and drink as they wish, be surrounded by trusted individuals or seek solitude, and above all, feel in control of their own body. Ensuring a sense of bodily autonomy—knowing you will only be touched with consent and that you are the primary authority over your body—generally facilitates the birth process.

I prioritize the comfort of the laboring person, collaborate with them to ensure a safe birth process, and trust their intuition along with my own. I provide every available tool to facilitate a positive and healthy birth experience, approaching each experience with humility and a commitment to learning from every person I care for.

Let choice whisper in your ear and love murmur in your heart. Be ready. Here comes life.
